An expedition into uncharted territory, as our
children
take on the restrictive freedom of musical expression.
The results? Broader minds, culture, and lots of arguments.
At April's recent recital, she arrived fetchingly
attired in a tea-length
royal purple velveteen dress, matching scarf, and designer cast,
lovingly signed by friends and family.
NOTE: the cast did
not impede
her dramatic performance of Bourrée in any way.
April studies at the
Piano Studio of Gale Manor.
Her recital was at the Woman's Club of Arlington.
Here's Dad's favorite photo!
Zach just performed in his second recital at
a church
(in Falls Church, Virginia).
Here, he warms up just before the concert.
The rare photograph below documents
Zach during an actual performance!
Zach was the final musician at the recital and
played four pieces (flawlessly, of course!).
Zach studies guitar at the Columbia
Institute of Fine Arts
under Scott Swertfeger
.
Jared continues his
lessons under the tutelage of
Joel Williams, a trumpeter in the President's Own Marine
Band.
Zach tried to get Jared to laugh during our
photo session.
"I'd STILL rather be a drummer, Mom!"
Mom and Dad have high hopes for successful
musical futures for these burgeoning prodigies.
We also have hopes that they'll eventually learn
to pick up dirty socks and underwear, too! Oh well . . .
We'll keep hoping, and you keep coming back!
Thanks for visiting.
