Nope. You won't find a price list here. While we do have an hourly rate, our preference is to determine a total price for the project (satisfactory to both parties, of course) which frees us from watching the clock and counting hours, and frees you from being 'nickeled-and-dimed-to-death'.
Objective
Jim’s Design & Illustration Studio offers complete graphic design, commercial illustration, and Website design services. Our objective is to provide quality artwork at reasonable cost, while providing thoroughly honest and professional business practices. We seek, in all our dealings to ensure the complete satisfaction of clients. Here are several aspects of our studio which we offer our clients:
- Accomplished desktop publishing on the Macintosh, expert in the use of several DTP packages, (QuarkXPress™,
Adobe Illustrator™, & Photoshop™ in particular).
- Successful illustrator, handling projects for many well-known Fortune 500 corporations and major
publishers, as well as charitable and non-profit institutions.
- Free consulting. There are no astronomical fees for ideas to get clients started
thinking, and more than 20 years’ experience is put at their disposal.
- Top-quality in-house proofreading, editing, and copywriting services available.
Our design/editing team has worked on multiple books and other projects for
over 16 years.
- Professional Website design with a practiced eye toward quick download times and a client-specific look. We don’t use ‘templates.’
Requirements
- Allow a minimum of one week leadtime before a job is due. Of course, emergencies do arise and will be handled
on an individual basis at the discretion of Jim’s Studio, nonetheless, it
may be necessary to apply RUSH charges.
- Make a minimum downpayment of 50% of the projected job total up front. The remainder is due at the completion of the project (usually upon delivery to the printer).
Guidelines
- Jim’s Design & Illustration Studio retains ownership of any illustration created for a specific job, including the copyright. Illustrations must be
returned and may not be reused without permission of the artist. Arrangements
can easily be made for a ‘Buyout’ of the art and/or the copyright.
- It may be necessary (or required by licensing agreements) to charge an additional
fee for the use of ‘clip art,’ stock photography, or a particular font.
- The text or ‘copy’ for all written materials must be provided either on a Macintosh or Windows
floppy disk, or as email. However, Jim’s Studio can provide copy writing services
if desired.
- Photography and supply of photos is the client’s responsibility.
- The client or their printer pays for all service bureau or output fees.
- Reasonable editing is included in the price. Major editing or alterations will be billed additionally.
- Proofreading is, ultimately, the client’s duty. Each job is spellchecked multiple times, and we make every effort to ensure the precision of your project. But once the client signs off or gives final approval on a job, Jim’s Studio cannot be responsible for mistakes, errors, or typos found after the fact. Please especially double-check numbers and names.

Regular hours for scheduled meetings or phone consultation are from 7 am to 5:30 pm.
